MK on top of the world!

There is one word that can make millions of hearts race from pure excitement or sheer terror—Heights. Some live in fear of them while others live for them. Just like the heights we experience when looking out of an airplane or a tall building, the intangible heights we achieve in our everyday lives can feel just as overwhelming! I’m inspired by those who, like Mary Kay Ash, see fears or obstacles as stepping stones on the journey to success.

Experienced climber and motivational speaker, Katrina “Kat” Follows, from the UK, is one of the people I’m inspired by, and she knows all about heights. Kat has conquered the Seven Summits, having climbed the highest peaks on all seven continents, and is about to embark on her second summit of Mount Everest. Only this time, she’s taking Mary Kay with her on her journey to the top of the world!

Kat will be carrying a variety of Mary Kay skincare products during her climb along with a Mary Kay branded flag that will be placed on the 29,035 foot summit. Kat’s apparel also features Mary Kay patches that have been sewn onto the visible exteriors of her expedition gear. You can cheer Kat on and follow her climb every step of the way on Instagram (@K2KoolKat) by searching #marykayjourney and watch a daily recap of her ascent to one of the seven natural wonders of the world. I will also be providing updates and images on Twitter using #marykayjourney.

This unprecedented journey reminds me of how far Mary Kay has come in 50 years. The next time you feel overwhelmed by the heights you’re soaring toward, remember that it’s not about reaching the pinnacle but the journey along the way.

If the sky is the limit, and we set aside our fear of “heights”, what would be your Mount Everest? What journey would you take?
